1) Purpose and Commitment

SITEKNIK is committed to scholarly integrity, transparency, inclusivity, and open access across all stages of publishing. The journal adheres to the COPE Core Practices and the COPE/DOAJ/OASPA/WAME Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (v4, 2022). Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit and are free from bias related to authors’ origin, identity, or beliefs.

2) Duties of Editors and Journal Management

  • Merit‑based decisions: Acceptance or rejection is determined by the manuscript’s scholarly value, relevance, and quality, not by authors’ nationality, affiliation, or other non‑academic attributes.
  • Transparency: The journal publicly displays its publication ethics, peer review process, licensing & copyright, access policy, fees (if any), ownership, and editorial team information as required by transparency principles.
  • Conflicts of interest (COI): Editors and staff disclose and manage COI in handling submissions.
  • Complaints and appeals: SITEKNIK maintains a clear, documented process to handle complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions, staff conduct, or publishing policies, consistent with COPE.
  • DEI: Policies are periodically reviewed to promote accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion in line with the Principles.

3) Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Originality & integrity: Submissions must be original, free from plagiarism, and not under simultaneous consideration elsewhere. Redundant/overlapping publication is prohibited.
  • Authorship: SITEKNIK applies the ICMJE 4 authorship criteria: (1) substantial contribution; (2) drafting or critical revision; (3) final approval; (4) accountability for all aspects of the work. Those who meet all four criteria are listed as authors; others are acknowledged.
  • Disclosure: Authors must disclose COI and funding sources that could influence the work.
  • AI‑assisted tools: AI systems cannot be authors. Any use of AI‑assisted technology (e.g., LLMs, image generators) must be fully disclosed (tool, version, scope of assistance) in Methods/Acknowledgments; authors remain responsible for accuracy and for respecting copyright and privacy.
  • Research ethics: For studies involving humans/animals, authors must provide ethics approval, informed consent where applicable, and comply with relevant ethical standards.
  • Data & reproducibility: Authors must include a Data Availability Statement (DAS) and, when requested, provide underlying data/code/materials via stable links/DOIs in appropriate repositories.

4) Reviewers’ Responsibilities

  • Objectivity & confidentiality: Peer reviewers evaluate manuscripts objectively, keep all materials confidential, and do not use the content for personal advantage.
  • Competence & COI: Reviewers accept assignments within their expertise and declare any COI or limitations; they respond in a timely manner.
  • Integrity of review: Reviewers must avoid any practices that compromise integrity, such as fake reviewer identities, paper‑mill involvement, or citation manipulation.

5) Peer Review Policy

SITEKNIK uses double‑blind peer review with at least two independent reviewers per manuscript. The journal publicly describes its review model, minimum number of reviewers, evaluation criteria, and typical timeframes. Clear peer review policies and access details are essential elements of transparency & best practice for journals.

6) Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing

All SITEKNIK articles are immediately open access (no embargo). The open license (e.g., CC BY 4.0) is displayed on each article page. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to publish under the chosen license. Clear OA, copyright, and licensing information must be posted both in policies and on published articles.

7) Research Misconduct & Allegations Handling

  • Scope: Misconduct includes plagiarism, data/image fabrication/falsification, unethical research, undisclosed COI, manipulated or compromised peer review, and paper‑mill activity.
  • Process: SITEKNIK maintains a documented, tiered procedure for handling concerns brought before or after publication (including by whistleblowers). Investigations may involve authors’ institutions; actions and outcomes are recorded, following COPE Core Practices.
  • Post‑publication actions:
    • Correction (Erratum/Corrigendum) for issues not undermining the main findings.
    • Expression of Concern when there are serious, credible concerns but evidence is inconclusive or pending investigation.
    • Retraction when content is unreliable due to major error, fraud, or systemic manipulation; notices are openpromptbidirectionally linked, and clearly labeled, consistent with COPE Retraction Guidelines (Aug 2025). Batch retractions must explain coordinated manipulation if applicable.

8) Plagiarism and Redundancy

All submissions undergo similarity screening prior to peer review. Suspected plagiarismredundant/overlapping publication, or duplicate submission is handled per this policy and COPE/ICMJE guidance; serious cases may lead to rejection or retraction after publication.

9) Data Availability & Reproducibility

Data Availability Statement is required in each article, with persistent links (e.g., DOIs/URLs) to externally hosted datasets/code when applicable. Statements should be accessible to all readers and follow recognized best practices (e.g., NISO JATS 1.4); SITEKNIK supports the COPE emphasis on data transparency and reproducibility.

10) Advertising, Direct Marketing, and Revenue

If present, advertising must be transparent, non‑intrusive, and independent of editorial decisions. All publication charges (APCs or other fees), if any, are clearly disclosed before submission, as part of the journal’s business‑practice transparency.

11) Preservation and Long‑Term Access

SITEKNIK ensures digital preservation through participation in recognized archiving services (e.g., PKP PNLOCKSS/CLOCKSS) and clearly states its archiving policy on the website, consistent with transparency principles.

12) Complaints and Appeals

The journal provides a clear, documented route for complaints and appeals concerning editorial decisions, staff conduct, or ethical matters; cases are handled promptly, fairly, and transparently in accordance with COPE Core Practices.

13) Version of Record, Corrections, and Updates

SITEKNIK follows best practices for correctionsexpressions of concern, and retractions: notices are freely accessibleindexedprominently labeled, and linked to/from the affected article to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record (COPE/ICMJE).
